Community Partnership, Belmond Mount Nelson

Growing Community Partnerships at Prestwich Street Primary School

Alive Foundation is proud to officially begin a new community partnership with Belmond Mount Nelson, whose staff members have started assisting with upliftment initiatives across our communities. As part of Mount Nelson’s staff outreach programme, employees are given the opportunity to spend one day each year participating in community work. With more than 500 employees, the initiative has the potential to create meaningful impact across organisations supported by Alive Foundation, including Prestwich Street Primary School, Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck, Ysterplaat Gemeente, and Isibindi Ysterplaat.

The partnership began at Prestwich Street Primary School over a two-week period.

During the first week, volunteer teams painted planter boxes around the school grounds as well as the school bathrooms, helping refresh and brighten the environment for learners.

In the second week, work continued with the start of the school’s vegetable garden project — an initiative aimed at supporting sustainability, nutrition, and learning opportunities within the school community.

At the same time, a large cleanup initiative took place with the support of GL Conradie, who generously provided two skips to assist with clearing waste and preparing the grounds.

These efforts form part of Alive Foundation’s ongoing commitment to improving school environments and creating spaces where learners feel supported, encouraged, and cared for. We are incredibly grateful to Belmond Mount Nelson, GL Conradie, and every volunteer involved for their time, generosity, and willingness to serve our communities. 🧡
