This year marked a special milestone for Prestwich Street Primary School as the school hosted its first colour athletics day in five years — a day filled with excitement, community spirit, and unforgettable memories for the learners.
Alive Foundation was proud to help organise and support the event, working alongside the school and volunteers to bring the day to life. From assisting at the snoepie to helping as track officials, more than 10 Alive Foundation volunteers gave their time to ensure the event ran smoothly and that the learners could enjoy a true athletics day experience once again.
The atmosphere on the day was one of joy, encouragement, and togetherness. Learners had the opportunity to participate, cheer on their teams, and experience the pride and excitement that school sporting events bring.
This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our wider community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to:
- Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck
- Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck
- Leon & Razelle Hanekom
- Patrick, Dezil & Dean
- Alet Loubser
- Mel Smit
- Willemien van der Linde
- Annelize van Wyk
- Lerriè Neethling
- Estelle Crawford
- Warren Davoren for the drinks, sweets, and support from Game
- Mount Nelson (Chef Luke & Vicky)
- Rene Groenewald for the bread and cheese donations
Days like these remind us how powerful community collaboration can be. When people come together with a shared purpose, we can create meaningful experiences and opportunities for children that extend far beyond the classroom.
For many of the learners, this was their first experience of a school athletics day — and one they will remember for years to come. 🧡
